Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a mainstream secondary school in Hereford. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with autism and SEND, helping them engage with lessons and access the curriculum on a day-to-day basis.

The role is full-time, long-term with an immediate start, and offers market-rate pay. You will work closely with teachers to monitor progress and adapt strategies to the pupil’s needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with autism and SEND.
• Experience providing 1:1 support within an education or similar setting.
• A good understanding of the needs of secondary-aged students.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient and adaptable approach.
• A positive ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to get stuck in.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to help the student engage with their education and access the curriculum.
• Support learning, engagement and development during lessons and school day.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and adapt strategies to pupil needs.
