Prysmian Group is seeking an R&D Engineer to join the Douvrin Optical Fiber team. You will develop, optimize, and industrialize VAD and related processes, executing experiments to boost yields and efficiency while collaborating across R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing.

The role emphasizes hands-on process development, DoE-driven validation, and close interaction with multinational teams, with a focus on safety, quality, and cost competitiveness in a dynamic industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Engineering or Science is required.
• Experience in industrial R&D, process development, manufacturing engineering.
• Knowledge of optical fiber manufacturing, particularly VAD/OVD, is advantageous.
• Strong experimental mindset with data analysis, statistical methods and problem solving.
• Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE), process characterization and industrial qualification methodologies.
• Knowledge of programming, data analytics and database tools (Python, SQL, statistical software).
• Fluent English is mandatory; French is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary and international teams.
• Autonomous, rigorous, innovative, hands-on and results-oriented.

Responsabilités

• Develop, optimize and industrialize manufacturing processes for Vapor Axial Deposition (VAD) and related processes.
• Execute experiments to improve process capability, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Establish process specs, operating windows and qualification criteria from experiments and statistical analysis.
• Participate in process qualification and validation with Product R&D, Quality, Process Control and Manufacturing teams.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, cost reduction, and process robustness.
• Investigate deviations, perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Support technology transfer and deployment of new products into manufacturing.
• Collaborate with international R&D teams and production sites to share knowledge and best practices.
• Contribute to patents, publications, benchmarking and tech watch.
