Job summary

Tom Ford in Paris is seeking a skilled Tailor to join the founding team for the new Saint-Honoré boutique. You will deliver exceptional client experiences through expert craftsmanship, ensuring garments meet the highest fit and finish standards.

You will welcome an international clientele in French and English, perform precise alterations, and help set up the tailoring area and workflows for the flagship opening.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a tailor – minimum 5 years.
• Thorough understanding of buttonhole, hemming, stitching, overlock, and professional steam iron machines.
• Fabric and garment design and construction knowledge.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Fluency in French and a good command of English.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional client experiences through expert tailoring and alteration work.
• Maintain the highest standards of sewing and tailoring in line with TOM FORD guidelines.
• Modify garments to customer specifications (hemming, tapering, lining adjustments, pockets, padding).
• Carry out accurate fittings and timely completion of alterations with attention to detail.
• Welcome and advise an international, high-end clientele during fittings in French and English.

Job description

On the occasion of the opening of the new Tom Ford boutique on rue Saint-Honoré in Paris, we are looking for a Tailor to join the founding team. The Tailor is responsible for delivering an exceptional client experience through expert craftsmanship and attention to detail. Acting as a brand ambassador in one of the world’s most prestigious luxury destinations, the Tailor ensures that all garments meet the highest standards of fit and finish, in line with Tom Ford’s identity and values, contributing to client satisfaction and loyalty.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• A genuine passion for luxury and an interest in the retail and fashion industry.
• Strong experience as a Tailor/Seamstress specialising in menswear.
• Strategic intuition and a pragmatic approach to tailoring luxury garments.
• Maintaining the highest standards of sewing and tailoring in accordance with TOM FORD guidelines.
• Contributing to the opening of the Saint-Honoré boutique, including setting up the tailoring area and establishing efficient alteration workflows in line with TOM FORD standards.
• Modifying garments according to customer instructions, which can include tapering pant legs, lining sheer garments, removing pockets, or adding padding.
• Altering garments to enhance comfort and fit, such as shortening sleeves or straps, narrowing lapels, as well as taking in or letting out seams.
• Jacket sleeves must be shortened specifically from the shoulder.
• Carry out accurate fittings as well as timely completion of alterations of the highest standards with particular attention to every detail and finish.
• Welcoming and advising an international, high-end clientele during fittings, in French and English.
• Ensure all deadlines for alterations and adjustments of garments are met, immediately communicating any issues to colleagues and/or management as appropriate.
• Maintain appropriate and efficient lines of communication and coordination with management in your own boutique as well as other boutiques.
• Perform successfully and productively as a member of the team, exchanging ideas and boosting spirits while ensuring there is always sufficient boutique coverage and excellent time management.
• Flexibility to work in shifts from Monday through Sunday.

• Outstanding sewing skills.
• Fluency in French and a good command of English;
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Availability to join the team ahead of the boutique opening.
