Job summary

Malt, Europe’s leading freelance marketplace, seeks an experienced Senior Backend Leader for its Paris office. You will drive large-scale engineering initiatives, define technical roadmaps, and mentor senior engineers in a fast-paced, product-driven environment. Hybrid work model balancing on-site and remote collaboration is offered.

You’ll shape architecture, promote best practices, and own delivery from A to Z, partnering with Product and Engineering managers to support Malt’s ambitious growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in product/SaaS/fintech
• Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin and backend architecture
• Experience mentoring and leading engineers and driving delivery end-to-end

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact projects spanning multiple teams and systems
• Architect scalable, efficient backend solutions
• Set short- and long-term technical strategy and roadmaps
• Raise the bar with best practices, coding standards and reviews
• Provide technical mentorship to engineers to grow their skills
• Coordinate across squads, Product Managers and Engineering Managers
• Foster ownership, excellence and speed in engineering culture
