Mistral AI’s Defense team is seeking an experienced software engineer with a strong background in data engineering or distributed systems to shape architecture, write production code, and own major software components from design through deployment.

This senior/Staff level role offers broad ownership in a small team and requires collaborating across data ingestion, APIs, and access control, while leveraging AI coding tools to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong practical familiarity with AI coding tools and agentic engineering workflows.
• A strong track record of building and operating production software, with substantial ownership of complex systems.
• Experience in data engineering or in building transactional, analytical or distributed systems.
• Experience building products where access control, permissions and data governance are central to how the system works.
• Broad software engineering skills across architecture and production debugging.
• Proficiency in Python or another programming language, solid SQL skills, with ability to work in Python/TypeScript environment.
• Autonomy and judgment to turn ambiguous problems into concrete plans with limited supervision.

Responsabilités

• Design and build services for data ingestion, transformation, storage, querying and workflows.
• Develop shared data models, APIs and SDKs for a consistent foundation.
• Make authorization a core part of the architecture with audit trails.
• Address data consistency, schema evolution, concurrency, performance and failure recovery.
• Translate engineering needs into reusable software capabilities and evolutions.
• Own delivery end-to-end including testing, observability, and maintenance.
• Utilize AI coding tools to accelerate implementation, testing, and debugging.
