Job summary

Pelagon seeks a very senior, hands-on software engineer to own the software running in Pelagon’s operations centre: our data infrastructure, processing services, internal tools and customer-facing applications.

You will architect the overall platform from data ingestion and storage to machine-learning workloads, and serve as the technical interface between embedded systems and AI teams to deliver a coherent, reliable system.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and operating robust, data-intensive production software with architectural ownership across components and teams.
• Strong hands-on software development skills from design to production debugging.
• Deep experience with data ingestion, storage, and distributed processing, with scale considerations.
• DevOps and systems background: Linux, networking, containers, orchestration, IaC, automated delivery.
• Experience deploying software on self-managed or customer premises, not just cloud.
• Experience building or operating data-processing platforms and ML workloads in production.
• Practical cybersecurity expertise and ability to implement effective controls.
• Ability to lead technically across disciplines and own outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture of core services, APIs, internal tools and customer-facing apps.
• Build reliable ingestion, storage and retrieval for large sensor and operational data.
• Create and manage ML workloads and data-processing pipelines.
• Ensure reproducible deployment on Pelagon and customer infrastructure, with robust rollback.
• Establish observability, performance tests, capacity planning and recovery.
• Incorporate secure development practices and threat modeling into the lifecycle.
• Define interfaces and data contracts with embedded and AI teams for end-to-end operation.
• Mentor engineers and promote rigorous code reviews and security checks.
