Job summary

Pelagon, a European defence technology company, is seeking a very senior, hands-on software engineer to own the software running in Pelagon’s operations centre. You will architect the platform from data ingestion to ML workloads, deploy across self-hosted and on-prem environments, and ensure robustness and cybersecurity by design.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building data-intensive production software with architectural ownership across components.
• Proven ability to move from design to implementation and production debugging.
• Strong DevOps, systems background including Linux, containers, orchestration and IaC.
• Experience integrating ML workloads into production systems with security in mind.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture for core services, APIs, tools and customer-facing apps.
• Build data ingestion, storage and ML processing workflows at scale.
• Ensure platform is reproducible across Pelagon and customer infrastructure.
• Establish observability, security controls and incident readiness.
• Mentor engineers and drive engineering effectiveness with rigorous review.
