European Payments Initiative (EPI) is building Wero, a European digital wallet, with a remote-first culture allowing work from the country you are based in. You will join the Data & Analytics team and own end-to-end data pipelines, modeling data from various sources while upholding GDPR and PSD2 compliance.

You will collaborate across analytics, backend, fraud, finance and product domains, delivering governed data products with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability and observability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering, backend data systems or a closely related role.
• Strong SQL and production Python skills for pipelines.
• Experience with Databricks or lakehouse platforms, governance, scheduling and Delta Lake design.
• Orchestration, CI/CD and deployment automation experience.
• Data governance and privacy-by-design knowledge in fintech/payments/banking or regulated sectors.
• Fluent English (CEFR C1/C2) and able to communicate asynchronously in a distributed European team.

Responsabilités

• Design, build and maintain reliable batch and near-real-time data pipelines for payments and related domains.
• Ingest and model data from operational systems and third-party sources into the lakehouse.
• Define and enforce data contracts, schemas, ownership and quality SLAs.
• Implement orchestration, scheduling, retries, monitoring and incident response for production-grade workflows.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, backend and platform teams to document key decisions.
