Job summary

Odaseva, based in Paris, is hiring a senior backend developer to design and maintain scalable PHP/NodeJS backends, with Go/Python modules as needed. You will work with product managers, collaborate with the infrastructure team, and lead code quality efforts.

Hybrid work arrangement: 3 days in the Paris office and 2 days remote. A Master’s degree and 7+ years of backend experience are required, along with strong OO programming and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years backend development experience (PHP/Go/NodeJS/Java).
• Proven track record delivering complex projects and improving product performance.
• Deep expertise in non-framework development and OO programming.
• Experience using Claude AI across analysis, implementation, tests, and automation.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and containerization (Docker); Salesforce a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly performant, scalable, and secure PHP/NodeJS applications (+ other modules in Go/python) for our core backend engine
• Collaborate directly with Product Managers to understand requirements, define technical specifications, and deliver solutions that align with product goals.
• Work closely with the Infrastructure team to optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless deployment and operation.
• Lead by example in writing clean, well-documented, and testable code.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Identify and implement opportunities for system optimization, refactoring, and technical debt reduction.
• Stay current with emerging PHP/NodeJS trends and technologies, recommending and implementing relevant advancements.

Required qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field,
• 7+ years of experience as a backend Developer in a professional environment, with a significant focus on a backend language (PHP, Go, NodeJS, Java).
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects and demonstrating measurable impact on product performance or stability.
• Deep expertise in non-framework development and object-oriented programming principles.
• Ability to use AI tools (Claude) on all phases of the development (analysis, implementation, tests, cross-functional automations).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), containerization (e.g., Docker) and Salesforce is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues efficiently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong desire to learn and grow.
