Odaseva in Paris is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to maintain and enhance our core backend systems. You will translate business needs into scalable technical solutions and collaborate with Product and Infrastructure teams to deliver high-performing applications.

You will design and enhance PHP/NodeJS backends (+ Go/Python modules), mentor junior developers, contribute to code reviews, and stay ahead of industry trends to drive performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of backend development experience in a professional environment.
• Strong expertise in non-framework development and OO principles.
• Experience with PHP/Go/NodeJS/Java and delivering complex projects.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, and Salesforce is a plus.

About The Role

As a Senior Development Engineer, you will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing our critical backend systems.

You’ll work closely with Product Managers to translate business needs into technical solutions and collaborate with the Infrastructure team to ensure robust, scalable, and high-performing applications. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to take ownership and deliver measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly performant, scalable, and secure PHP/NodeJS applications (+ other modules in Go/python) for our core backend engine
• Collaborate directly with Product Managers to understand requirements, define technical specifications, and deliver solutions that align with product goals.
• Work closely with the Infrastructure team to optimize application performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless deployment and operation.
• Lead by example in writing clean, well-documented, and testable code.
• Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Identify and implement opportunities for system optimization, refactoring, and technical debt reduction.
• Stay current with emerging PHP/NodeJS trends and technologies, recommending and implementing relevant advancements.

Required qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field,
• 7+ years of experience as a backend Developer in a professional environment, with a significant focus on a backend language (PHP, Go, NodeJS, Java).
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects and demonstrating measurable impact on product performance or stability.
• Deep expertise in non-framework development and object-oriented programming principles.
• Ability to use AI tools (Claude) on all phases of the development (analysis, implementation, tests, cross-functional automations).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), containerization (e.g., Docker) and Salesforce is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues efficiently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong desire to learn and grow.

Where You’ll Be

Based in Paris (75002), France.

Hybrid: 3 days in the office / 2 days remote work.

Full time permanent contract position.
