Job summary

Odaseva, a leading enterprise data management company, is seeking a senior backend engineer to own critical features and services in Paris. Hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two days remote, full-time permanent contract.

The role requires a Master’s in CS or related field and 7+ years’ backend experience, plus proficiency in Node.js/TypeScript, PHP, Go or Python. AWS and observability tooling experience is a strong plus, and English and French fluency is required.

• 7+ years of hands-on backend development with ownership of significant features.
• Expertise in Node.js/TypeScript, PHP, Go or Python; production experience with two or more is a strong plus.
• Ability to quickly learn complex systems and own key parts of them.
• Strong fundamentals in software design and distributed systems: event-driven architectures, queues, database performance, testing.
• Experience with AWS (serverless, containers, IaC) and observability tooling; Salesforce experience is a plus.
• Fluent in English and French, with clear communication, ownership mindset, and collaboration skills.

• Architecture & Scale: Own features and subsystems for large data volumes, multi-tenancy, performance and cloud cost.
• Production Ownership: Investigate issues, profile and optimize production code, mitigate risks.

• Technical Leadership: Improve team practices through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs, from technical design to production.
• Architecture & Scale: Own complex features and sub-systems spanning multiple services, designed for large data volumes, multi-tenancy, performance, and cost in the cloud.
• Production Ownership: Investigate issues across systems, profile and optimize production code, and spot risks before they reach customers.
• AI-Augmented Engineering: Use AI tooling in your daily work, with the judgment to steer, review, and challenge what it produces.
• Technical Leadership: Raise the team's practices and code health through design proposals, code reviews, and mentoring.

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on backend development, with a track record of owning significant features from design through delivery.
• Deep expertise in at least one backend language among Node.js/TypeScript, PHP, Go, or Python; production experience with two or more is a strong plus.
• Proven ability to get up to speed quickly on complex systems and take ownership of key parts of them, whether building from scratch or evolving what exists.
• Strong fundamentals in software design and distributed systems: event-driven architectures, queues, database performance, testing.
• Experience with AWS (serverless, containers, IaC) and observability tooling. Salesforce experience is a plus.
• Equivalent engineering school degree or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Fluent in English and French, with clear communication, ownership mindset, and strong collaborative skills.
