Job summary

Deel is hiring an Infrastructure Tech Lead to join the Infra Core team. This senior staff-level role requires a hands-on leader who will set technical direction, program architecture, and drive scalable infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers.

You will work closely with DevOps, DBA, InfoSec, and product teams to design patterns for a rapidly growing Kubernetes ecosystem, build platform primitives, and own end-to-end reliability and performance at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years focused on infrastructure (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Helm, GitOps, CNCF).
• Programming expertise in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go or Python.
• 2+ years of experience as a technical lead with distributed, cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
• Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures; familiarity with message brokers (NATS, Kafka).
• Kubernetes design and operation, including operators/controllers or platform primitives.
• Operational excellence with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and scaling within a modern platform.
• Track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects from inception to delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; bias for action and execution.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction as the senior voice on a small, highly capable team.
• Stay close to architecture, code, and infrastructure while shaping roadmaps.
• Build the control plane, tooling, and infrastructure primitives used by hundreds of Deel engineers.
• Collaborate with DevOps, DBA, InfoSec, and product teams to align on goals and resolve multi-team challenges.
• Drive real-time infrastructure capabilities, observability, and secure provisioning at scale.
