Job summary

Scaleway, a sovereign cloud company, seeks a Principal SRE to lead technical direction across the SRE community. You will shape standards, architecture and practices ensuring reliability, performance and scalability of our cloud platform at scale.

You will operate across multiple teams, mentoring 8 Lead SREs and guiding 40–60 SREs, impacting our Elements/Public Cloud and broader ecosystem. This role offers hybrid work with significant autonomy.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Production Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or DevOps within large-scale environments.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, high-load infrastructure and cloud architectures.
• Strong expertise across a broad infrastructure stack and the ability to quickly navigate unfamiliar technologies.
• Proven experience solving complex reliability, scalability and performance challenges.
• Strong understanding of observability, incident management, automation and production operations.
• A strong track record of technical leadership and influence across multiple engineering teams.
• Ability to define technical standards and drive their adoption across a large engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction across the SRE organization.
• Partner closely with Lead SREs, helping solve complex technical challenges and drive engineering excellence within their teams.
• Define and promote SRE standards, best practices and technical principles across the organization.
• Tackle complex architectural challenges across large-scale, distributed cloud infrastructure.
• Drive improvements in reliability, scalability, performance, observability and resilience.
• Help shape our approach to monitoring, incident management and production readiness.
• Identify systemic reliability risks and technical debt across the platform and drive initiatives.
