Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is hiring a health care aide for a 32-hour weekly night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM with rotating weekends and holidays. You will observe patients from arm’s length, assist with rounds, ensure safety, handle call lights, restock supplies, and transport patients as needed.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED (or near completion of Health Sciences program) and are BLS certified within 3 months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (or near completion of Health Sciences program).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Completion of hospital de-escalation training during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and continuous observation of patient at a distance no greater than arm’s length.
• Participates in patient rounding as directed by Registered Nurse
• Ensures environmental safety for patient
• Answers call lights and directs patient care issues to RN
• Restocks department supplies and precautions stations
• Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed
• Cleans patient equipment and completes patient safety sitter competency
• Completes all required documentation for patient care
• Communicates changes in patient behavior to the RN
• Participates in quality improvement activities on the unit
• Respects cultural beliefs and uses interpreter services as needed
• Complies with safety laws, regulations, and hospital policies
