IXO is seeking interpreters to create realistic legal interpretation exercises across courtrooms, arraignments, depositions, and trials. You will write reference renderings, explain terminology choices, and assess accuracy in both languages.

The role emphasizes identifying renderings that could change meaning and documenting decisions clearly for review. This is remote and requires clear English and consistent availability for sessions.

Qualifications

• State or federal court-interpreter certification or equivalent credential.
• At least two years of professional interpreting in legal settings.
• Full professional command of relevant terminology in both working languages.
• Clear written English and availability for at least ten hours per week.

Your work at IXO

Create IXO interpretation scenarios that test whether meaning survives accurately between two working languages in legal settings.

Responsibilities

• Author realistic exercises drawn from courtrooms, arraignments, depositions, trials and lawyer-client conversations.
• Write reference interpretations and explain choices of terminology and register.
• Assess completeness and accuracy in both working languages.
• Identify fluent renderings that alter a consequential part of the meaning.
• Document decisions clearly enough for another interpreter to review.

Required experience and preparation

You need state or federal court-interpreter certification, or an equivalent credential, at least two years of professional interpreting in legal settings, and full professional command of the relevant terminology in both working languages. Clear written English and availability for at least ten hours per week are required.

Preferred experience

Federal court certification or NAJIT membership, varied legal interpreting settings, sight translation and legal-document translation.

Deliverables and engagement

Deliverables include interpretation scenarios, reference renderings and supported evaluations. Work is remote and asynchronous. The language pair, task scope and schedule will be agreed with IXO; this is evaluation work rather than live representation or patient care.

Pay is $65 • $105/hr in USD. IXO will agree the scope, deliverables and schedule before work begins.
