Job summary

Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud for Europe, and you will craft the storage foundation to support a gigawatt-scale compute regime. You’ll shape block, file, and object storage, decide what to deploy or build in-house, and implement Go-based services that power scalable, reliable data handling for training and general compute workloads.

Qualifications

• Built storage systems—object, block, or distributed filesystems.
• Deep distributed-systems fundamentals: durability, consistency, replication, erasure coding.
• Shipped production systems in Go; willingness to write Go daily.
• Comfort with hardware realities: HDD, SSD, NVMe tiers and economics.
• 5+ years building backend or infrastructure systems.
• Partnered with product, design, and business teams to ship software for real users.
• Low-ego, team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build the storage stack—block, file, object—for training, sandbox, and general compute workloads.
• Design and write Go services: S3-compatible APIs, tiering, backup and recovery, caching layers.
• Own the data plane: allocation, duplication, tiering, backup and recovery.
• Plan capacity across datacenters and failure domains—petabytes scale.
• Partner with Product to shape the storage roadmap and tradeoffs.
