Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud in Europe. We are seeking the founding Engineering Team Lead for storage to own the stack—block, file, and object storage—for training runs and general compute. You will be hands-on early, then hire engineers, coach them, and scale the team while shaping the storage solution.

You will decide what we build vs. buy, own capacity planning across datacenters, and partner with Product Managers to align the storage roadmap with business goals.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience: built and led a software team.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems: durability, replication, erasure coding.
• Strong backend/infrastructure background with Go production experience.

Responsabilités

• Stand up and own the storage stack: block, file, object, for training and compute workloads.
• Evaluate and write services in Go when vendor solutions don't fit.
• Own data plane: allocation, tiering, backup and recovery, S3-compatible APIs.
• Plan capacity across datacenters and failure domains for petabytes scale.
• Build the team from zero: hire, onboard, coach, define growth paths and ownership standards.
• Partner with Product Managers to shape the storage roadmap and tradeoffs.
