Job summary

Atelier Ten US is seeking a Design Staff specialist in Energy Analysis for the New York City office. You will perform whole-building energy modeling, develop HVAC strategies, and contribute to decarbonizing the built environment as part of an interdisciplinary team.

You will collaborate with architects and engineers, produce technical deliverables, and lead energy analysis workstreams across projects, staying detail‑oriented and client‑facing with clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architectural/Mechanical/Building Science related field.
• 1–3 years of professional work experience in building energy analysis or high‑performance HVAC design for commercial buildings.
• Experience with specialized building energy simulation software (IES-VE and/or eQuest preferred; EnergyPlus and/or Grasshopper a plus).
• Experience or understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems design for commercial buildings.
• Experience with Green Building Rating systems (e.g., LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge) and energy code compliance (IECC or 90.1).
• Experience gathering and documenting energy model inputs and outputs; interpreting results and documenting analysis.

Responsibilities

• Learn internal energy analysis methodologies following ASHRAE 90.1 and other industry standards for projects in various locations and climates.
• Develop shoe-box and whole building energy models to support analyses for building design and optioning.
• Coordinate sustainability assessments, energy and thermal comfort analysis, energy benchmarking, and life cycle cost analysis.
• Collaborate with architects and design teams to make energy and carbon emission improvement recommendations.
• Attend site visits and project meetings, and present analyses to stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain in-house databases and spreadsheet tools and standards.
