Job summary

HyLight is seeking a Software Architect for its HyLighter autonomous airship. You will own the software architecture across onboard and ground systems, emphasizing clean interfaces and modular design.

The role focuses on embedded software with architecture at the core, while building the pipelines that keep development fast and reliable. Expect work on PX4-based flight software, a hardware abstraction layer, and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent required.
• Strong embedded development experience with a shift toward software architecture.
• Hands-on CI/CD setup experience with automated tests and release pipelines.
• Experience with PX4, MAVLink and QGroundControl on drones or aerial robotics.
• Desire to own architecture and system-wide design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Define the global architecture of onboard and ground embedded systems with modular interfaces.
• Design a hardware abstraction layer to unify sensors and actuators as one machine.
• Set up CI/CD and continuous development pipelines with automated testing and releases.
• Extend and integrate PX4-based flight software and QGroundControl to HyLight needs.
• Improve robustness of avionics and embedded software; drive future feature studies.
