ECC Group in Paris is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Manager to lead the mechanical design for major data centre developments in France. You will coordinate technical design solutions with cross-functional teams and ensure robust performance, resilience and safety for critical infrastructure.

You will oversee HVAC and cooling systems, engage with external designers and contractors, and drive design decisions that meet strict standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong Design Management experience within technically complex construction or engineering environments.
• Experience in Mechanical & Electrical design engineering with a mechanical bias.

Responsabilités

• Lead and coordinate mechanical design activities across data centre projects.
• Provide technical design support for critical infrastructure and support systems.
• Review and coordinate HVAC, cooling and mechanical infrastructure designs.
• Lead and contribute to engineering and design coordination meetings.
• Work closely with external designers, consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Review technical solutions and provide engineering input to optimise design and implementation strategies.
• Coordinate the performance, supply and technical support of infrastructure suppliers.
• Ensure mechanical designs align with relevant engineering standards, operational requirements and safety expectations.
• Provide technical guidance on mechanical infrastructure throughout the design and delivery lifecycle.
• Maintain a working understanding of electrical, telecoms, security and BMS systems to ensure effective multidisciplinary coordination.
• Support technical investigations and Root Cause Analysis, recommending corrective actions and lessons learned.

The Opportunity

ECC Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Manager to join our team supporting major data centre developments in France.

This is a senior engineering and design position with a strong focus on mechanical critical infrastructure, including HVAC, cooling and associated technical support systems.

Working across engineering, construction and operational teams, you will take a leading role in coordinating technical design solutions, managing key stakeholders and ensuring designs meet the demanding performance, resilience and safety requirements associated with mission-critical data centre environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate mechanical design activities across data centre projects.
• Provide technical design support for critical infrastructure and support systems.
• Review and coordinate HVAC, cooling and mechanical infrastructure designs.
• Lead and contribute to engineering and design coordination meetings.

What We're Looking For

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong Design Management experience within technically complex construction or engineering environments.
• Proven experience in Mechanical & Electrical design engineering, with a strong mechanical bias.
• Excellent knowledge of HVAC, cooling systems and critical mechanical infrastructure.
• Previous experience within data centres, mission-critical facilities or other critical infrastructure environments is highly desirable.
• General understanding of electrical systems and associated telecoms, security and BMS infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating external designers, consultants, suppliers and internal technical teams.
• Strong understanding of engineering design best practice, safety standards and operational requirements.
• Excellent technical problem-solving, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional qualification would be advantageous.

Language Requirement

Candidates must be comfortable working across multidisciplinary and international project teams in both languages.
