Wärtsilä Corporation in France seeks an experienced Contract Manager to support complex projects in the defence sector. You will oversee contracts throughout their lifecycle, develop strategy, and ensure risk mitigation and profitability across international teams.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will build strong stakeholder relationships, drive improvements, and ensure compliance with terms and conditions while coordinating with commercial and legal functions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Contract Manager, ideally within a complex industrial environment.
  • Mandatory experience in the military and/or defence sector.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines or propulsion systems would be considered an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary and international project teams.
  • Strong project management and coordination capabilities.
  • Sound judgment, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsabilités

  • Develop and implement the contractual strategy for assigned projects.
  • Establish and maintain contract management and reporting tools.
  • Advise and support operational teams on interpretation of terms.
  • Monitor and report on customer interactions and contractual matters.
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation actions.
  • Assess changes and contract implications to enhance profitability.
  • Drive initiatives to improve contract performance and security.
  • Address contractual deviations and related impacts.
  • Prepare, negotiate and implement contract amendments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, partners and subcontractors.
  • Support continuous improvement in contract management processes.

As part of our Special Applications business, we are looking for an experienced Contract Manager to support the successful delivery of complex and high-value projects.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will play a key role in managing contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring risk mitigation, contractual compliance, and the optimization of project performance and profitability.

Your Responsibilities
  • Manage contracts throughout their entire lifecycle, from project analysis and contract review to operational and financial follow-up.
  • Develop and implement the contractual strategy for assigned projects.
  • Establish and maintain contract management and reporting tools.
  • Advise and support operational teams on the interpretation and application of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and report on customer interactions and contractual matters.
  • Identify legal, contractual, operational, commercial, and financial risks and propose appropriate mitigation actions.
  • Assess project changes and their contractual implications, while identifying commercial opportunities to enhance project profitability.
  • Drive initiatives to improve contract performance and strengthen contractual security.
  • Ensure contractual deviations are promptly addressed, including associated impacts and potential financial compensation.
  • Contribute to the preparation, negotiation, and implementation of contract amendments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, partners, and subcontractors.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in contract management processes and practices.
What We Are Looking For
