Job summary

Joko is seeking a Legal Counsel, Commercial & IP to work alongside business teams to negotiate partnerships and own contracts, IP, and disputes. You will report to the Head of Legal and help scale our international presence.

You will shape the legal framework for our AI tools, manage IP strategy, and build playbooks and templates used by non-lawyers across functions. Remote-friendly role with Paris-based roots.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in commercial or IP/IT law, in-house a strong plus.
• Negotiated complex commercial agreements in French and English.
• Experience in commercial disputes or AI/IP matters is a plus.
• Understand how business makes money and use contracts to enable growth.
• Able to convert positions into templates and playbooks for non-lawyers.
• Master's degree in business/IP/IT/contract law; Paris Bar a plus.
• Fluent in French and English; another European language is a plus.
• Clear writing, decisive with incomplete information, and enjoys a scale-up pace.
• Curious about AI and building tools that change legal work.

Responsibilities

• Define the legal framework for Juno and AI-generated content.
• Protect Joko brands across markets with IP counsel.
• Collaborate with Product and Marketing to secure new features and brands.
• Structure partnerships, data-sharing contracts with merchants and brands.
• Ensure compliance under EU rules on restrictive practices and parity clauses.
• Lead or support negotiations on exclusivity and MFN terms.
• Create templates and playbooks for business teams; adapt for AI use.
• Handle disputes with merchants/partners and manage litigation counsel.
• Oversee the insurance programme across lines and international coverage.
