Job summary

Tufts Medicine seeks a Medical Assistant to support outpatient clinic operations under licensed supervision. The role focuses on patient flow, rooming, vital signs, specimen collection, and basic immunization administration as needed.

You will assist physicians with procedures, maintain patient records, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment while delivering excellent service to patients and families. Training and supervision may be provided for junior staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant National Certification Attestation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Three years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Five years of Medical Assistant experience (preferred).
• Bilingual (preferred).
• Experience with electronic medical record systems (EMR).
• Previous supervisory experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Controls patient flow and coordinates with providers to maximize efficiency.
• Prepares medical records and verifies patient information.
• Provides high level customer service in all patient interactions.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients and families.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares for visits.
• Assists with physical exams and procedures as needed.
• Performs vital signs and collects specimens as ordered.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POC) and quality checks on equipment.
• Supports billing with CPT/diagnosis coding on charts.
• Trains and precepts new staff and may cover satellite locations.
