Job summary

Timmins and District Hospital in Timmins, Ontario, is seeking a Social Worker to support the Emergency Department with substance use and concurrent disorders. You will work within the addictions services umbrella, provide crisis management, counseling, and referrals, and collaborate with community partners to develop holistic care plans.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and at least 3

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an Accredited University.
• Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in addictions-related care.
• Ability to use tact and discretion with health care providers and patients.
• Experience in program development and education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based recovery principles and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to provide services in English and French.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, referrals, and navigation to support ED patients with substance use and/or concurrent disorders.
• Deliver individual and group care including crisis management, counseling, psychoeducation, and connections to community resources.
• Collaborate with Addiction Medicine Consult Service and community partners to develop holistic care plans.
• Document assessments, intervention plans, progress notes and outcomes timely.
• Participate in program development at local and regional levels.
• Align improvement projects with organizational goals and monitor outcomes.
• Provide health teaching on recovery and lifestyle issues across all stages of recovery.
• Demonstrate harm reduction approach and trauma-informed care in practice.
• All staff to follow COVID-19 vaccination guidance per Ontario Ministry of Health.
