Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking an Application Engineer to develop complex thermal system applications, selecting optimal chillers and heat pumps, and designing hydraulic and control systems for projects in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with sales, service, and project teams, using engineering tools and scripts to improve selection accuracy while delivering energy and CO2 calculations. Frequent site visits may be required.

Qualifications

• Technical University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Aeronautic Engineering or similar.
• Proven experience in thermal systems engineering, preferably HVAC (chillers/heat pumps).
• Ability to use design software and write simple scripts.

Responsibilities

• Complex selection and sizing of thermal system equipment (chillers and heat-pumps).
• Designing hydraulic and control systems for projects.
• Collaborate with Equipment Sales and Service Sales Engineers before sales and with project teams after order fulfillment.
• Develop relationships with design engineers and manage consultant relationships.
• Write scripts to automate and improve design tools.
• Perform energy, investment and CO2 calculations.
• Lead complex thermal system pre-sales projects.
• Build deep knowledge of data center cooling or district heating plants.
