Job summary

ICEYE Oy is seeking a Staff Engineer in Espoo, Finland to own the satellite-to-ground link and end-to-end data transmission from ground stations to customers. You will work across the stack from cloud to real hardware, contributing code and shaping design decisions.

You will lead the architecture for X-band, Ka-band and S-band links, define latency commitments, and mentor teams as ICEYE scales its constellation and data delivery capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience engineering on at least one flown satellite mission.
• High-rate X-band/Ka-band downlink experience beyond S-band.
• Ability to build and defend a link budget: EIRP, G/T, Eb/N0, margin, rain fade.
• Practical CCSDS knowledge: transfer frames, virtual channels, synchronisation and coding.
• Experience moving data from ground to consumer with latency guarantees.
• Hands-on coding in Python, Go, C++ or similar; you ship code.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the satellite-to-ground link across X-band, Ka-band payload downlink and S-band C2.
• Measure constellation delivery against theoretical capacity and close gaps.
• Design data movement from ground stations to customers with latency tiers and delivery accounting.
• Build alongside software engineers, contributing code and reviews.
• Lead technical initiatives across team boundaries and align teams on data path decisions.
• Grow satellite communications expertise through mentoring and design reviews.
