Job summary

Brightsmith is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical / Grid Connection Engineer to lead HV/MV electrical designs and grid connection work for large-scale data centre developments across the Nordics.

You will coordinate with DSOs/TSOs, support feasibility studies, and deliver electrical packages from early feasibility through construction, ensuring power availability and compliance with Nordic grid requirements.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years' experience within electrical engineering, power systems, grid connections or mission-critical infrastructure.
• Strong experience with HV and MV electrical systems and complex power infrastructure.
• Experience working on data centre, mission-critical, industrial or other high-load infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience working directly with local Nordic DSOs and/or TSOs.
• Strong understanding of Nordic grid connection processes, power availability, technical requirements and stakeholder environments.
• Experience with grid connection applications, capacity studies, technical negotiations and connection agreements.
• Strong knowledge of substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems and electrical distribution.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional English; relevant Nordic language skills would be highly advantageous.
• Direct experience delivering electrical infrastructure for hyperscale or large-scale data centres would be particularly valuable.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and grid connection activities for large-scale data centre developments across the Nordics.
• Assess and develop HV and MV grid connection solutions from early-stage site feasibility through design and construction.
• Manage technical engagement with local DSOs and TSOs, supporting grid applications, capacity assessments, connection studies and technical negotiations.
• Assess grid capacity and power availability for potential and existing data centre sites.
• Develop and review single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, cable sizing, substation concepts and power distribution systems.
• Support the design and integration of HV/MV infrastructure, transformers, switchgear, protection systems and associated electrical equipment.
• Coordinate electrical and grid requirements with Development, Design, Construction, Procurement and external engineering teams.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, studies, tender documentation and electrical engineering packages.
• Manage and review technical work completed by external consultants, utilities and specialist engineering partners.
• Identify electrical and grid-related risks and develop solutions to support projects through development and construction.

If you're an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in HV/MV systems, grid connections and mission-critical infrastructure, this could be an exciting opportunity to work on major data centre developments across the Nordics.

We're partnering with a growing data centre business developing large-scale digital infrastructure across the Nordic market. With a strong project pipeline, they're looking to strengthen their technical team with an experienced Senior Electrical / Grid Connection Engineer who understands both complex electrical infrastructure and the local Nordic grid environment.

This is a hands-on technical role with a strong focus on power infrastructure, grid interconnectivity and electrical engineering, working closely with local DSOs and TSOs alongside internal development, design and construction teams to secure and deliver the power required for new data centre developments.
