Job summary

RINA in Finland (Europe Marine Engineering) is seeking a Machinery & Systems Project Engineer to lead the technical execution of complex piping projects, ensuring quality, safety and compliance across the project lifecycle. You will coordinate with engineers and subcontractors, validate diagrams, mentor junior staff, and report to the Discipline Leader.

A Bachelor's in Mechanical or Naval Engineering and 3+ years in shipbuilding are required; AutoCAD proficiency is desirable.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in ship building.
  • Knowledge of passenger ship water systems.
  • Understanding of standard project management methodologies.
  • Good AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Knowledge of quality control and assurance processes in engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with ship-building rules and regulations (flag, classification society, USPH, and other international standards).
  • Strong analytical skills to address technical challenges.
  • Ability to assess technical risks and proactively mitigate them.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Implementation: ensure delivery quality and milestones, lead piping systems work.
  • Technical Team Coordination: coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and discipline manager for resource adjustments.
  • Quality Control: implement QC measures to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Compliance and Safety: ensure adherence to regulations and safety standards with support from the Discipline Leader.
  • Technical Documentation and Reporting: maintain up-to-date project documentation and validate diagrams before submission.
  • Training and Mentorship: provide on-the-job training to junior engineers.
  • Communication: maintain clear communication between technical teams, Project Manager, and stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: identify opportunities for process improvement in technical aspects.
