Job summary

IQM Quantum Computers in Espoo, Finland, seeks a Quantum Engineer to lead fabrication process development for next‑generation quantum chips, translating experimental breakthroughs into scalable manufacturing.

You will design and run structured experiments, optimize fabrication methods, and assess integration strategies for future QPU architectures while mentoring engineers and documenting findings to support tech transfer into production.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have 5+ years in micro- or nanofabrication, with 2+ years in quantum or semiconductor tech.
• Deep expertise in quantum chip fabrication and validating new manufacturing techniques.
• Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or Materials Science (PhD a strong advantage).
• Strong experimental mindset and ability to design structured investigations and interpret data.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of quantum chip fabrication processes through structured experimentation and data-driven iteration.
• Design, execute, and analyze hypothesis-driven experiments to evaluate new materials and process flows.
• Assess technical feasibility, risks, and integration strategies for future QPU architectures.
• Collaborate with Design, Calibration, Equipment Engineering, Process Integration, Chip Production, and Cleanroom teams to scale technologies.
• Mentor Process Engineers and Technicians, supporting experimental design and knowledge sharing.
• Document technical knowledge through reports, patents, and publications, and help transition R&D into scalable manufacturing.
