Job summary

IQM Quantum Computers seeks a Quantum Engineer (Junior to Senior) to join our Gates team in Espoo, Finland, or Munich, Germany. You’ll work on quantum gate implementations for superconducting processors, developing single- and two-qubit gates, and advancing calibration and benchmarking.

You’ll collaborate across design, fabrication, software, theory, and experimental teams, mentor juniors at senior levels, and contribute to scalable R&D in a fast-growing ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with quantum gate control and superconducting qubits is required.
  • Experience with calibrations, benchmarking, and gate fidelity analysis is essential.
  • Strong programming in Python for quantum control workflows is expected.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills are needed.
  • Independent problem-solving and ability to collaborate across teams are crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Develop single- and two-qubit gates and refine gate implementations.
  • Create calibration and characterization routines for quantum processors.
  • Analyze gate fidelities and address physical limitations.
  • Collaborate across design, fabrication, software, theory and experimental teams to boost QPU performance.
  • Contribute to efforts toward full quantum error correction.
  • Senior staff may mentor junior team members and lead focus-area initiatives.
