Job summary

g2 Recruitment is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee mechanical design across data centre projects in Finland. You will own deliverables from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and client specifications.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and coordinate with project managers, electrical engineers and other disciplines to deliver on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years' experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar role.
• Lead Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer experience.
• Strong background in HVAC, cooling, and critical mechanical systems.
• Experience in data centres, mission-critical facilities or hyperscale environments.
• Experience leading mechanical design teams and managing multiple projects.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design standards, regulations and best practices.
• Fluent English; Finnish language skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities across data centre projects in Finland.

• Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver on time and within budget.
• Lead design reviews, technical assessments and engineering risk evaluations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary mechanical engineering contact for stakeholders across Finland data centre projects.

Job description

• Lead the mechanical design activities across multiple data centre projects throughout Finland.
• Take ownership of all mechanical design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and client specifications.
• Manage and coordinate mechanical engineering activities from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to mechanical engineers within the project team.
• Oversee the design and development of HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, chilled water systems, and other critical mechanical services required for data centre environments.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Work closely with project managers, clients, electrical engineers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Lead design reviews, technical assessments, and engineering risk evaluations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary mechanical engineering point of contact for stakeholders across data centre projects located throughout Finland.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years' experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a similar role.
• Proven experience working as a Lead Mechanical Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, or equivalent.
• Strong background in the design and delivery of HVAC, cooling, and critical mechanical systems.
• Previous experience within data centres, mission-critical facilities, hyperscale environments, or other critical infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading mechanical design teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design standards, regulations, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling plant design, and energy-efficient solutions is highly desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Fluent English language skills are required. Finnish language skills would be advantageous.
