Job summary

JDL Recruitment represents a leading data centre contractor in Helsinki, seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to oversee on-site delivery of mechanical systems on a hyperscale project. You will collaborate with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants, and client teams to ensure safe, on‑time delivery and high-quality results.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering or building services and proven experience in large-scale mission‑critical construction.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or building services.
• Experience as Mechanical Construction Manager or Senior Mechanical Supervisor in M&E contracting.
• Experience delivering large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, building services, sequencing and commissioning.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
• Hyperscale data centre experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-site delivery of mechanical works with safety, timeliness and quality in mind.
• Coordinate daily activities with project teams, subcontractors, consultants and client reps.
• Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Oversee HVAC installation aligning with programme milestones.
• Develop short-term construction programmes with two-week look-ahead schedules.
• Support procurement through technical reviews of equipment and materials.
• Monitor progress, labour resources and productivity to meet objectives.
• Manage variations, change control, valuations and commercial reporting.
• Ensure works comply with project specifications, quality and commissioning requirements.
• Promote health and safety culture and maintain high housekeeping standards.

Mechanical Construction Manager – Data Centres

Location: Helsinki, Finland

Overview

We are supporting a leading international data centre contractor with a strong European project pipeline, who are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join their delivery team in Helsinki.

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Europe's leading mission‑critical contractors, overseeing the installation and delivery of mechanical systems on a large‑scale hyperscale data centre project. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants, and client teams to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the on‑site delivery of all mechanical works, ensuring installation activities are completed safely, on time, and to specification.
• Coordinate daily activities with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
• Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
• Manage HVAC installation activities, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme requirements and project milestones.
• Develop and maintain short‑term construction programmes, including two‑week look‑ahead schedules.
• Support procurement activities, including technical reviews of equipment, materials, and specialist subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress, labour resources, and productivity to ensure programme objectives are achieved.
• Manage variations, change control, valuations, and commercial reporting alongside the project team.
• Ensure all mechanical works comply with project specifications, quality standards, and commissioning requirements.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture, ensuring all subcontractors comply with site procedures and maintaining high housekeeping standards throughout the project.

Requirements

• Degree, HNC/HND, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager or Senior Mechanical Supervisor within the M&E contracting sector.
• Experience delivering large‑scale data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, industrial, or other mission‑critical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical building services, construction sequencing, and commissioning.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams within fast‑paced construction environments.
• Previous hyperscale data centre experience is highly desirable.
