Valona Intelligence, a leader in Market & Competitive Intelligence, is building a scalable Group Finance function in Helsinki. The Group Controller will own group reporting, coordinate the monthly close, and lead a two-person finance team, partnering with the CFO on complex accounting matters and audits.
The role blends hands-on execution with strategic process improvement, automation and AI initiatives, and requires fluency in Finnish and English. Hybrid work options are available in Helsinki.

We are building a scalable Group Finance function in our headquarters located in Helsinki, to support the growth of our international group. As part of this, we are looking for a Group Controller to take ownership of the quality of group reporting, lead a small finance team, and support the CFO on complex accounting matters. In this role you will have a genuine opportunity to influence how our finance function develops.
We are still in the building phase, which means the work is hands‑on and at times ad hoc – priorities can shift, and you will need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves alongside the more structured responsibilities below.

Group reporting and financial statements: You are responsible for the quality and sign‑off of the group consolidation, steer the monthly close across all group companies, and coordinate the review of journal entries. You act as the primary point of contact for the auditors and are responsible for preparing audit materials.
IFRS and technical accounting: You support the organisation on accounting matters – revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, impairments – and support the CFO on the accounting implications of more complex accounting matters.
Payments and partners: You own the group’s payment processes and approval authorities and manage relationship with our outsourced accounting partners.
Team leadership: You lead and coach a team of two (Accountant and Invoicing Specialist) and support the development of consistent ways of working across the finance team.
The role will also evolve over time: once the group’s finance processes are stabilised, the focus will shift towards process improvement and applying automation and AI in areas such as reconciliations and reporting. The use of AI is a strategic priority across our entire organisation, and finance plays an active part in it.
Solid experience in group reporting, consolidation with a good working knowledge of IFRS (e.g. from a group controller, group accountant or audit background)
A practical approach to process improvement and an interest in automation and AI tools
Experience in, or readiness for, leading a small team
A flexible, hands‑on working style suited to a finance function that is still taking shape
Fluent Finnish and English
Broad visibility into the finances of an international group and close day‑to‑day collaboration with the CFO
