Job summary

BYD Europe is seeking a skilled professional to lead BESS sales and navigate grid compliance for utilities and industrial clients in Spain. The role involves end-to-end sales, stakeholder management, and coordinating with engineering and regulatory teams. Travel to client sites is expected, and fluency in Spanish with English proficiency is required.

The position is full-time in Madrid, offering opportunities in a rapidly growing energy storage business within BYD’s European operations.

Qualifications

• Electrical/energy engineering background with knowledge of BESS/PCS/EMS.
• 3–5 years in renewable energy tech sales, support or PM.
• Strong understanding of energy storage systems and grid compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts.
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and site visits.
• Fluent in Spanish with working English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sales strategies to expand the BESS business with utilities, industrial clients, and developers.
• Manage the full sales cycle including prospecting, design, proposals and deal closure.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders in the renewables sector.
• Ensure BESS installations meet local and international grid codes.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and grid operators for BESS integration.
• Stay informed on grid codes, transmission requirements, and energy storage regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sales strategies to expand the BESS business with utilities, industrial clients, and renewable energy developers.


• Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and lead qualification to solution design, proposal preparation, and deal closure.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in the renewable energy sector, including utility companies, grid operators, and regulatory bodies.


• Ensure BESS installations meet local and international grid compliance standards.


• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and transmission operators for seamless BESS integration into the power grid.


• Stay informed on changes in grid codes, transmission line requirements, and energy storage regulations.


• Work closely with engineering, operations, and R&D teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.

Ideal candidate profile

• Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.


• 3 to 5 years of experience in renewable energy technical support, sales, or project management, with a focus on BESS, PCS, or EMS.


• Strong understanding of energy storage systems and grid compliance requirements (IEC, IEEE standards).


• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.


• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and grid codes for integrating energy storage systems.


• Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.


• Willingness to travel for client meetings and project site visits.


• Fluent in spanish, with working proficiency in english.
