Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a significant telecommunications provider in the **Eastern Cape**, is seeking a proactive and skilled Telecom Network Operations Specialist. This role is crucial for the day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the company's network infrastructure in the **Queenstown** area. You will be responsible for ensuring network stability, performance, and availability, responding to incidents, and implementing corrective actions. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of network operations center (NOC) environments and a strong aptitude for problem-solving. This hybrid role requires regular presence in the **Queenstown** office, complemented by remote work flexibility, to support operations in **Eastern Cape, ZA**.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance using various monitoring tools and identify potential issues or outages.
• Respond to network alarms and incidents, performing initial troubleshooting and escalating complex issues as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on network equipment and systems.
• Implement approved network configuration changes and software updates.
• Maintain accurate records of network events, actions taken, and resolution times.
• Collaborate with field technicians and other engineering teams to resolve network problems.
• Participate in the development and refinement of operational procedures and documentation.

Requirements

• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and ticketing systems.
• Good understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience with routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as part of a rotating schedule.
