Job summary

Deel is hiring a Staff Product Manager to own a significant slice of the Payroll Experience. You will lead two engineering squads, map the landscape of payroll across jurisdictions, and drive an opinionated plan for what to change, build, and automate.

The role demands autonomy, data-driven decision making, and a strong systems-thinking mindset. Based in Spain, you will work on a global payroll platform that aims to simplify multi-country compliance and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product management experience, including end-to-end ownership of a significant problem space.
• Ability to operate with minimal direction and make clear, data-driven decisions.
• Experience shipping products in complex, fast-paced environments with tight feedback loops.
• Strong systems thinking: connect client experience, country requirements, accuracy, and engineering velocity.
• Comfort with data-driven storytelling and a bias toward clarity over fluff.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision, strategy, and metrics for a part of the payroll experience across two engineering squads.
• Challenge current payroll processes and define the shortest, correct paths to improved outcomes.
• Build global frameworks that let local country rules be delivered as configuration.
• Define and track KPIs such as touchless payroll rate, accuracy, and time-to-submit.
• Translate complex payroll workflows into clean, well-scoped work for squads to execute quickly.
• Use AI actively to inform research, synthesis, and decision documents.
