Dow Jones is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for its Barcelona-based Search team. You will design and build scalable search and recommendation systems powering content discovery for millions of readers in real time.

The role sits at the intersection of backend engineering, data, and AI. You will collaborate with product, data science, and engineering to deploy models end-to-end, optimize latency, and push experimentation with A/B testing and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of industry experience in ML, recommender/ ranking or personalization.
• Strong Python proficiency for production ML systems.
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate search and recommendation systems powering content discovery.
• Develop and improve ML models across the personalization stack, from candidate generation to ranking.
• Leverage embeddings, two-tower architectures, and user/content signals to improve retrieval."
• Drive experimentation and A/B tests to measure impact and iterate on models and features.
• Apply LLMs to enhance content understanding and feature extraction.
• Optimize performance, latency, and scalability in high-traffic environments.
• Contribute to engineering best practices: testing, observability, CI/CD.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and analytics to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
