Grafana Labs is hiring a Senior Software (Database) Engineer to help build the underlying storage system for a general purpose data platform. You will work on a SaaS-ready database layer with OLAP/OTLP capabilities, designed to run across cloud providers, with high autonomy and cross-functional collaboration.

The role emphasizes pragmatic architecture decisions, ownership, and the ability to evolve the system from prototype to production-grade SaaS.

Formación

• Experience with distributed systems, catalogs and table formats, and query engines.
• Mastery of a programming language such as Golang, C++, or Rust.
• Exposure to cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience using observability tools to understand and troubleshoot system behavior.

Responsabilidades

• Take ownership over and build parts of the database: design, implement, test, and operate ingestion, query planning, distributed query execution, data formats, storage formats.
• Create a scalable SaaS foundation: define architecture for a multi-tenant database service, including tenant isolation, usage tracking, quotas, audit logs, background jobs.
• Power agent-facing retrieval workflows: build APIs and database interfaces to retrieve data quickly for AI agents and internal tools.
• Operate what you build: instrument services with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, and dashboards.
• Contribute to technical direction: shape architecture, service boundaries, storage choices, API contracts, deployment patterns.
