Job summary

Omya is seeking an SAP MDG Solution Design & Implementation Lead in Barcelona to drive the design and deployment of MDG solutions aligned with Omya’s digital operating model. You will collaborate with global stakeholders to deliver cost-efficient, customer-centric MDG initiatives.

The role requires deep MDG and S/4HANA expertise, leadership across project lifecycles, risk management, and the ability to operate in international environments while promoting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of SAP MDG design and implementation experience.
• At least 6 years of experience in SAP ECC and S/4HANA implementations.
• Bachelor/Master's degree in CS/IT/Business or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of SAP MDG solutions aligned with Omya’s Digital Operating Model, best practices, and business objectives.
• Manage the full solution lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders, fostering innovation and driving continuous improvement.
• Identify and mitigate risks, monitor solution performance, and promote lessons learned and optimization opportunities.
• Maintain up-to-date project and service documentation and manage service roadmaps, releases, and enhancements.
• Coordinate change implementation, service reviews, and stakeholder communications to ensure service excellence.
• Oversee outsourced activities and vendor relationships within the SAP MDG ecosystem.
• Ensure proper administration, support & enhancement of SAP MDG modules and support process improvements.
• Adhere to governance framework and provide regular reporting on progress and post-go-live activities.
• Perform business analysis of change requests with Business Process Owners for consistency in approach.
• Collaborate with external partners for developments when required.
• Focus on process re-engineering with understanding of technical problems for current and future environment.
• Create process changes by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating changes to impacted teams.

The SAP MDG Solution Design & Implementation Lead is responsible for the Design and Implementation of innovative, cost efficient and customer-centric solutions in the SAP MDG domain, which align with the new Digital operating model of Omya. The SAP MDG Solution Design & Implementation Lead works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement solutions that meet the business needs and strategic objectives of Omya

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Applications:

• Lead the design and implementation of SAP MDG solutions aligned with Omya’s Digital Operating Model, best practices, and business objectives.
• Manage the full solution lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders, fostering innovation and driving continuous improvement.
• Identify and mitigate risks, monitor solution performance, and promote lessons learned and optimization opportunities.

Service Management:

• Maintain up-to‑date project and service documentation, including technical specifications, training materials, and process documentation.
• Manage service roadmaps, releases, updates, and enhancement requests in alignment with business and IT priorities.
• Coordinate change implementation, service reviews, and stakeholder communications to ensure service excellence.
• Oversee outsourced activities and vendor relationships within the SAP MDG ecosystem.

Business Solutioning:

• Ensure proper administration, support & enhancement of the respective modules within SAP MDG
• Support and facilitate process improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices, acting as an internal consultant.
• Adhere to the Digital Project Portfolio Governance Framework and all reporting tasks thereof
• Provide regular reporting of the progress on managed activities during the project as well as post go‑live on the tickets, enhancements managed.

Activity and change management:

• Perform business analysis of change requests along with the Business Process Owners to ensure a consistency in approach and architecture.
• Perform developments in collaboration with external implementation partners when required.
• Focus on process re‑engineering with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.
• Create process change by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes to impacted business systems teams.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• Bachelors/ Masters Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Business or relevant field.

Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in SAP MDG solution design and implementation, preferably in a digital transformation context.
• At least 6 of experience in SAP ECC and S/4HANA implementations.

Knowledge and skills:

• Strong expertise in SAP MDG, S/4HANA, master data governance, workflows, BRF+, and integrations.
• Hands‑on SAP development experience (ABAP, Fiori, Workflow, SOA Services, BAdIs, WRICEF/RICEFW objects).
• Experience with SAP MDG configuration, data quality, consolidation, replication models, and system integrations.
• Solid understanding of related SAP modules (MM, SD, FI, HR).
• Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, Lean, and IT Service Management methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in complex international environments and lead solution delivery from design through implementation and support.
