Open Earth Foundation is seeking a Climate Mitigation Data Engineer to build the data that cities use to plan, act on, and track climate goals. You’ll manage emissions inventories, activity data, and methodologies, ensuring transparent inputs, tested pipelines, and reproducible results.

This role focuses on mitigation within a shared data platform and collaborates across time zones. The position is fully remote and international, with core hours overlapping 8am–11am PST.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering or a closely related role.
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills.
• Working knowledge of greenhouse-gas accounting frameworks or related climate data methods.
• Experience with relational databases and schema design.
• Familiarity with at least one data pipeline/orchestration tool and cloud data warehousing.

Responsabilités

• Design and maintain data models for emissions inventories and activity data.
• Build pipelines ingesting diverse datasets with tests and lineage.
• Review methodologies for emissions calculations and data inputs.
• Encode reporting rules to align with GPC, CDP, and other frameworks.
• Document models, pipelines, and methods for partners and teams.
