The Barcelona Supercomputing Center invites applications for a Data/ML Engineer focused on regional AI weather/climate forecasting datasets. You will develop AI-ready data pipelines, curate high‑resolution simulation and observational data, and ensure reproducibility across open-source frameworks such as Anemoi.

Join a multinational team within the DestinE initiative, contributing to reproducible pipelines, testing, and deployment on HPC infrastructure.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Physics, Environmental/Atmospheric Science, or a related discipline; Master’s/PhD valued.
• Strong programming in Python and building data-processing/ETL pipelines.
• Experience with scientific data formats such as NetCDF, GRIB, Zarr; familiarity with Xarray, CDO/NCO.
• Experience preparing datasets for ML training in Earth/weather/climate sciences.
• Unix/Linux environments and scripting; HPC environments with Slurm and GPU workflows.
• Familiarity with Anemoi ML-ready datasets/frameworks; knowledge of ERA5/regionals is a plus.
• Git version control; CI/CD tools; containerization (Docker/Podman).
• Fluency in English; Spanish and other European languages advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Curate regional analyses, forecasts, and reanalyses for training and evaluation.
• Build reproducible ML data pipelines transforming raw data into Anemoi-compatible datasets.
• Implement automated testing and CI/CD for data-processing workflows.
• Support deployment/validation of pipelines on HPC/AI infrastructure with performance testing.
• Collaborate with international consortium; document pipelines for reproducibility.
