Job summary

ICF, a consultancy with global offices, is seeking a Project Finance Controller to drive financial performance across Europe & Asia. The role sits in Madrid, Spain, on a permanent basis, and collaborates with PMs and leadership to manage revenue recognition, billing, WIP and month-end close.

Responsibilities cover IFRS/US GAAP revenue, contract reviews, MIS reporting, and internal controls, including training PMs on best practices and governance.

Qualifications

• MBA, M.Com or CMA or equivalent finance qualification.
• 4–5 years in project finance, or financial project administration.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition (ASC606/IFRS/US GAAP).
• Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
• Proficiency in MS PowerPoint; Power BI experience is an advantage.
• Experience with ERP systems (Maconomy preferred).
• High numerical accuracy and strong analytical skills.
• Experience in a matrix organisation across Europe/Asia/India.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and interpret project financial performance with PMs and Directors.
• Conduct project re-forecasting and cost-to-complete reviews per policy.
• Provide insights, variance analyses and strategic recommendations.
• Present monthly performance, risks and opportunities to Senior Leadership.
• Review contracts and set up projects in ERP per SOX and controls.
• Maintain project financial data through lifecycle: setup, amendments, closure.
• Support contract documents, agreements and variation orders.
• Ensure revenue recognition is consistent with standards and policies.
• Prepare MIS packages with revenue, costs, margins and commentary.
• Prepare client billing with PMs; monitor aged debts and supports collections.
• Contribute to cash flow estimates and WIP management.
• Post subcontractor and freelancer accruals; support month-end close.
• Lead or participate in project financial reviews; support PMs on processes.
• Support audits and drive process improvements in controls.
