Job summary
GE Vernova's Grid Automation R&D team seeks a Lead Power Systems Protection & Control Application Engineer to bridge power system theory and algorithm implementation. You will design P&C algorithms and deliver detailed specifications while coordinating with product teams to enable robust digital substation technologies.
You will apply MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD/RTDS, and related tools to model, test, and validate protection schemes, contributing to global energy transition and publication-ready
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent knowledge/experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in protection and control system design and studies; 3+ years in developing detailed design specifications for P&C algorithms, preferably in relay manufacturing.
- Extensive experience in power system protection, automation and control product development.
- Model-based design using MATLAB/Simulink and power system simulations (RTDS/PSCAD/ATP-EMTP).
- Proven publication/presentation track record in industry forums.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed design specifications for protection and control algorithms.
- Conduct feasibility studies using PSCAD, RTDS, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Lead root-cause analysis of protection-related incidents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document technical papers for conferences.
- Provide training and guidance to engineers and technicians.
