IF1910 GE Power Management S.L.U. is seeking an electrical engineer to operate advanced real-time simulators, perform HIL and FAT testing, and reproduce complex electrical conditions to evaluate how protection relays and controllers respond in real-world scenarios.

You will collaborate with international engineering teams, troubleshoot system behavior, and contribute to projects spanning transmission, distribution, and industrial power systems.

Formación

  • B.S. in Electrical, Computer or Power Systems Engineering (Masters or higher preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in protection, control, and automation applications.
  • Strong understanding of power system phenomena in transmission and distribution.
  • Understanding of protection relays, automation, control and communication protocols.
  • Ethical, customer-focused and able to work with teams and customers.

Responsabilidades

  • Execute HIL tests using real-time simulators and perform FAT testing.
  • Create and analyze study reports across transmission, distribution, and industrial segments.
  • Develop test setups, test plans, and test cases including wiring diagrams and relay configurations.
  • Prepare project reports and deliverables; contribute to technical papers for conferences.
  • Collaborate with international engineering teams to troubleshoot complex system behavior.

Job Description Summary

In this role, you will operate advanced real-time simulators and perform Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), reproducing complex electrical system conditions and testing how protection relays and controllers respond in real-world scenarios. You will work closely with international engineering teams, troubleshoot complex system behavior, and contribute to a wide variety of projects giving you exposure to a different technologies, customers, and challenging power system applications.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities

Execution of Engineering and Consulting Services Projects inside the Engineering & Consulting CoE. This includes schedule, customer communication, scope of work, budget, and quality. Perform Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) tests using a real-time digital simulator, including Factory Acceptance Tests Analyze and troubleshoot real time digital simulation scenarios Execute engineering studies and analysis across the transmission, distribution, and industrial segments, such as: short circuit, load flow, arc‑flash studies, protective device coordination studies. Create complex relay setting files to include programming of Protection and Control Elements, Complex control Logic and Communications settings for GE and third‑party protective relays. Develop test setups, test plans, and test case (including wiring diagrams and configurations of relays and controllers) Prepare test reports, project reports, and project deliverables Participate in preparation of technical papers to be presented at conferences and other venues.

Required Qualifications

B.S (Masters or higher is preferred) in Electrical, Computer or Power Systems Engineering with very good understanding of power system applications and analysis. Minimum (2) years of experience in protection, control, and automation applications. Excellent understanding of power systems phenomena in transmission & distribution systems. Understanding of power system protection relays, automation, control and communication protocols. Ethical and professional business manner in interaction with team members and customers. Customer focused; open to accept new challenges and share ideas Technical skills to execute projects, identify opportunities and write SOW proposals. Strong learning skills, demonstrate collaborative style and Customer focused.

Desired Characteristics

Experience with RTDS or Opal Simulation Platforms. Experienced in study software and power system tools such as PSCAD, PSSE, Power Factory, ASPEN, CAPE for automating the power system study process. Understand of communication system protocols and architectures in electric power industry (IEC61850, DNP, Modbus, etc.). Flexibility to work in a multi‑customer environment and to adapt to requests/comments made in the course of execution. Experience with transmission, distribution, and smart grid standards. Strong communication skills including technical writing and presentations. Knowledge or field experience with system commissioning and testing including Doble / Omicron test equipment or similar.
