Job summary

GE Vernova's Grid Automation R&D team is seeking a Lead Power Systems Protection & Control Application Engineer to bridge complex power theory and real‑world algorithm implementations, driving next-generation protection and digital substation technologies.

You will develop design specs for P&C algorithms, perform PSCAD/RTDS/MATLAB studies, lead root-cause analyses, work with product teams, and contribute to IP through patentable innovations and training of new engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in protection and control system design.
• 3+ years developing detailed design specifications for P&C algorithms.
• Extensive experience in power system protection, automation, and control product development.
• Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and power system simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed design specifications for P&C algorithm implementation.
• Perform proof-of-concept studies using PSCAD/RTDS/MATLAB/Simulink.
• Lead root-cause analysis of protection algorithm incidents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
• Publish technical papers and present at industry venues.
• Prepare training materials and deliver trainings when required.
• Identify patentable innovations for GE Vernova IP.
• Provide guidance and training to new engineers and technicians.
