Axpo group in Madrid, MD, ES, is seeking a Junior Performance Engineer (f/m/d) for an on-site Full time role to transform plant data into better decisions and measurable impact.

You will work with operations and engineering, design data tools, analyze SCADA data, and develop ML models, while delivering Power BI dashboards for plant managers and stakeholders.

Fluent in English, MSc in a quantitative field, and hands-on Python experience are required; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

What you will do:

• Work as a digitally minded asset manager, partnering with operations, engineering and business teams to spot performance gaps, maintenance challenges and automation opportunities. Gather user needs and translate them into clear requirements, data models, workflows and scalable solutions for the Asset Management Platform.
• Design, build, test and maintain reliable software tools and data pipelines that connect plant operations, maintenance, financial and manually collected data.
• Analyse SCADA data, events, maintenance and business data to uncover losses, recurring issues, anomalies and improvement opportunities across the biomethane portfolio.
• Develop, validate and document statistical, machine-learning and optimization models that support performance monitoring, anomaly detection and decision-making.
• Create intuitive Power BI dashboards, semantic models, KPIs and decision-ready reports for Plant Managers, Asset Management and senior stakeholders.

What you bring & who you are:

• MSc in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering or a related quantitative field.
• Strong software-engineering foundations, including clean and modular code, testing, debugging, version control and clear documentation.
• Proficiency in Python, with hands-on ability to prepare, analyse and visualize data and to develop analytical or machine-learning models.
• Practical experience building data products, analytical tools, dashboards or workflow automation, gained through academic projects, internships or work experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) and confidence within Microsoft 365 – ideally complemented by experience with SharePoint Online, Azure, Dataverse, Fabric, Teams, Copilot Studio or GitHub.
• Strong communicator with the curiosity and patience to work directly with users – ideally with exposure to asset management, maintenance management, industrial operations, renewable energy, biogas or biomethane production, or knowledge of plant monitoring, SCADA, sensor data or work orders.
• Fluent in English and motivated by tangible operational results.

Working Hours
