Placements24 seeks an Environmental Compliance Officer for a major energy infrastructure developer in Queenstown. You will ensure adherence to environmental legislation, manage EMPs, monitor impacts, and coordinate inspections across planning, construction, and operation on a hybrid schedule.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Environmental Science/Management and at least 5 years of environmental compliance experience, with strong SA regulatory knowledge (NEMA/EIA).

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within energy or infrastructure sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of South African environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA) and EIA processes.
• Experience in developing and implementing Environmental Management Plans.
• Strong understanding of environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Excellent report writing, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with auditing and quality management systems is beneficial.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and permits.
• Develop and manage Environmental Management Plans for projects.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to monitor environmental performance.
• Identify environmental risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Manage EIAs and ensure all conditions are met.
• Liaise with authorities, consultants, and project teams.
• Oversee waste management, pollution control and rehabilitation.
• Develop and deliver environmental training for staff and contractors.
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain records and prepare compliance reports.
