Job summary

Our client is an engineering firm delivering power infrastructure projects. The Electrical Project Engineer will join a hybrid team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, ZA, balancing office-based project management and design with site visits for commissioning and inspection.

You will oversee electrical distribution projects from conception to completion, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with SA and international standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years in project engineering or project management within the power distribution sector.
• Proven experience managing electrical infrastructure projects, including substations and distribution networks.
• Strong understanding of power system analysis, protection, and control.
• Knowledge of relevant South African and international electrical standards.
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera) and design tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage electrical power distribution projects, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cabling systems.
• Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Oversee the design, engineering, procurement, and construction phases of projects.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical codes, standards (e.g., NRS, IEC), and safety regulations.
• Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and resolve technical and logistical issues.
• Review technical specifications, drawings, and contractor submittals.
• Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Prepare project reports, including progress updates, financial status, and closure documentation.
• Facilitate project meetings and ensure effective communication among all parties.
• Ensure quality control and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
