ATG Europe in Barcelona is seeking an HR Specialist to provide day-to-day HR support for Spain and coordinate payroll for selected European countries. The role requires an experienced, hands-on professional who can work independently and guide employees and managers.

You will work closely with the HR Assistant to deliver onboarding, contracts, leave, performance, relations and compliance tasks. Fluency in Spanish and English is required, and eligibility to work in the EU is essential.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Employment Law.
  • 5–7 years of HR experience, with substantial Spain exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of Spanish employment law, payroll, and HR administration.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, written and spoken.

Responsabilidades

  • Serve as day-to-day HR contact for employees and managers in Spain.
  • Coordinate monthly Spanish payroll and payroll support for Europe.
  • Manage HR administration: onboarding, contracts, changes, leave, and offboarding.
  • Prepare employment contracts, HR letters and records in line with procedures.
  • Support managers on employee relations and performance matters; escalate as needed.
  • Coordinate leave, occupational health administration and health/safety matters.
  • Maintain HR data, prepare reports and support audits.
  • Contribute to HR process improvements across the organization.

We are looking for a HR Specialist on behalf of and in support of ATG Europe for our location in Barcelona, Spain. The HR Specialist provides day-to-day HR support for Spain and payroll coordination for selected European countries. The role requires an experienced, hands-on HR professional who can operate independently, advise employees and managers, and manage a broad range of operational HR matters. The HR Specialist works closely with the HR Assistant in the delivery of day-to-day HR activities and provides guidance and coordination where required. The focus is on effective execution, compliance and a high-quality HR service. The role offers scope to take on broader responsibilities over time, depending on performance and business needs.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Serve as the day-to-day HR contact for employees and managers in Spain, providing clear and practical guidance on HR policies, procedures and employment matters;

  • Coordinate the monthly Spanish payroll and support payroll administration for selected European countries, ensuring accurate and timely input, validation and follow-up with payroll providers and internal stakeholders;

  • Manage HR administration, including onboarding, contractual changes, probation reviews, transfers, leave, sickness absence and offboarding;

  • Prepare and maintain employment contracts, addenda, HR letters, personnel records and HR system data in line with internal procedures and applicable requirements;

  • Support managers with day-to-day employee relations, performance and conduct matters, escalating sensitive or higher-risk cases to the HR Director;

  • Coordinate leave, absence and occupational health administration, including follow-up with employees, managers and external providers;

  • Administer employee benefits and insurances and respond to employee queries regarding eligibility, enrolment and changes;

  • Support work permit and immigration processes and maintain the related documentation and follow-up;

  • Coordinate training administration, including requests, approvals, records, providers and budget follow-up;

  • Coordinate occupational health and safety matters in Spain, including liaison with the external prevention service, preparation and follow-up of Health and Safety Committee meetings, maintenance of required documentation, and coordination of agreed actions;

  • Coordinate and maintain the Spanish Equality Plan, including required documentation, monitoring, reporting and follow-up of agreed actions;

  • Represent the company in HR-related contacts with Spanish labour authorities, public bodies and other external organisations, in coordination with the HR Director where required;

  • Coordinate external HR, labour and compliance audits, including preparation of supporting documentation, liaison with auditors and follow-up of findings and agreed actions;

  • Maintain accurate HR data, prepare regular reports and support audits and compliance activities;

  • Contribute to HR process improvements and broader HR initiatives across the organisation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Employment Law;
  • Approximately 5–7 years of relevant HR experience, including substantial experience in Spain;
  • Strong working knowledge of Spanish employment law, payroll processes and HR administration;
  • Practical experience with:
    • Employee relations and advising managers;
    • Employment contracts and personnel administration;
    • Payroll coordination and external payroll providers;
    • Sickness absence, occupational health and safety;
    • Equality Plan requirements;
    • Contacts with Spanish labour authorities and external auditors.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and handle confidential matters appropriately;
  • Experience supporting HR or payroll activities in other European countries is an asset;
  • Experience coordinating audits, compliance reviews or immigration processes is an asset;
  • Experience guiding or coordinating the work of an HR Assistant is an asset;
  • A relevant postgraduate HR or labour-relations qualification is an asset;
  • Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
