Job summary

Morningstar is seeking a Data Research Analyst in Madrid to process global market data for the EMEA Data Team. The role requires French and English fluency and collaboration with global data teams to ensure data coverage, quality, and timeliness across investment data points and fund structures.

The position emphasizes data accuracy, process improvement, and effective stakeholder communication, with a hybrid work model in Madrid and a base salary range of EUR 29,000–39,000 plus a 5% annual bonus.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and French is mandatory.
• Fluency in another European language would be an advantage (German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese).
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Collaborates well in a team environment, communicating with diverse backgrounds.
• Solid understanding of the financial industry and passion for investment data.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, capable of handling high volumes of data and meeting deadlines.
• Experience with data methodology/quality and processes is a bonus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the global data teams.
• Data expert on investment data points, processes, methodologies, calculations & different fund structures.
• Manage business relationships with fund companies; connect with providers & set up acquisition channels; act as escalation point.
• Meet production deadlines for internal and external clients.
• Continuously evaluate procedures, create and enhance analytical tools, and implement process improvements.
• Use LEAN Six Sigma project management methodologies to track and resolve complex data issues.
• Collect and maintain Morningstar data with high accuracy, completeness and coverage.
• Demonstrate ownership of issues in the data ticket queue and provide timely updates and resolutions.
• Understand roles and responsibilities of internal partners to expedite issue resolution.
• Translate internal requests into detailed specifications and user stories.
• Improve and document client use cases to ensure new functionality meets expectations.
